PAYMENT:

We mainly ask for payment via bank transfer but we also use PayPal as our merchant, allowing you secure and versatile way to pay. Our link is here www.paypal.me/oranjebergsport

INSURANCE:

Orange Mountaineering – Simon Verspeak carries appropriate insurance; employers, public liability and professional indemnity insurance for mountaineering activities. It is recommended that you take out your own personal accident insurance and insurance in case you have to cancel at short notice.

TERMS and conditions:

The following terms and conditions are in place to clarify what it means to book with Orange Mountaineering. Participants and groups refers to anyone who has made a booking by either paying a deposit, the full amount or in participating in an activity provided by Orange Mountaineering.

Where an individual is booking on behalf of others, the group’s acceptance of these terms and conditions is given through the booking organiser.

1. Qualifications and insurance

1.1 All activities are conducted by staff who have been trained and assessed according to industry standards to lead those activities in the environment participants are taken into. This includes holding an up-to-date outdoor first aid qualification.

1.2 Staff are asked for recent experience and hold professional association membership and adhere to the Continued Professional Development minimums to be a member, therefore staying current and up to date.

1.3 Orange Mountaineering holds public liability, professional indemnity and employers’ liability insurance.

2. Staffing

2.1 In some circumstances other staff may be brought in on courses for their experience and expertise. We reserve the right to do this without notifying participants and groups.

3. Risk

3.1 The activities and environments Orange Mountaineering operate in have inherent risk including of serious injury and death. Orange Mountaineering endeavour to mitigate this risk but cannot eliminate it.

3.2 It is a requirement that all participants agree to the BMC statement of participation acknowledging the risk involved. The BMC statement says,

The participant recognises that climbing and mountaineering are activities with a danger of personal injury or death. Participants in these activities should be aware of and accept these risks and be responsible for their own actions.”

4. Medical Declarations

4.1 It is your responsibility to declare any pre-existing medical condition or injuries before the start. Medical conditions or injuries do not necessarily preclude participation however we ask they are declared beforehand and if you have any concerns to seek permission from your GP. 

4.2 During your time with us it is your responsibility to notify us of any additional medical conditions or injuries.

5.Working with Under 18s and vulnerable adults

5.1 The majority of courses and activities are designed for adults, therefore we may ask for your date of birth before a course.

5.2 Orange Mountaineering holds an AALA licence allowing us to work with under 18's however not every course may be suitable. Typically we would run courses for young people or take family (or extended family groups) together rather than offer spaces on open courses.

6. Decision making and venues

6.1 Your leader, instructor or guides decision is final, which is made on safety grounds and the needs of the group. It may mean that the objective of the day or course may change.

6.2 The leader, instructor or guide will choose a venue which best achieves the aims of the individual or group with the given weather and conditions. This may not be the activity or place which was envisage, or advertised. It may be an indoor climbing wall or a low level option or a skills based option. Any additional costs, such as climbing wall entry are not included and will need to met by participants.

7. Equipment

7.1 The price for the course is for the instruction and use of technical gear only. I will provide ropes, gear, helmets etc. as required but you will need to make sure you have suitable outdoor clothing and footwear.

 7.2 A kit list is provided to all participants. If a participant is not deemed to be adequately equipped then the activity may have to be modified.

7.3 Personal losses or damage to kit are not covered.

7.4 Should any loss or damage of leader, instructor or guides kit and equipment occur due to negligence or lack of care we may seek to recover the cost from either the participant or group.

8. Payment

8.1 All courses require a 25% deposit upon booking. If your course is less than 4 weeks away at the time of booking or course cost is less than £100, I will require full payment at the time of booking.

9. Cancellation Policy

9.1 If Orange Mountaineering is required to cancel a course, participants will be notified immediately and will be offered the choice of a reschedule or a full refund.

9.2 If cancellation is by mutual agreement e.g. conditions are unsuitable, postponement and reorganisation of a mutually convenient date will be offered in the first instance.

 9.3 If you as a participant need to cancel you must inform us as soon as possible. If short notice and the course place can subsequently be filled we may offer a refund (minus booking fees/deposit) as a gesture of goodwill, but the payment remainder will be lost in the event of cancellation. We recommend taking insurance to cover unforeseen events like illness.

9.4 Cancellations up to four weeks before the course will receive a full refund minus deposit; less than four weeks, but more than two weeks before the course: 50% refund; less than two weeks before the course date: no refund.

9.5 In the unlikely event of a group course dropping below minimum numbers, we reserve the right to cancel the course and would offer the choice of a reschedule or a full refund. We would endeavour to notify you as soon as possible.

COVID POLICY:

Orange Mountaineering is dedicated to keeping participants, staff and the communities we operating in, safe during the pandemic.

1. COVID-19 restrictions

Orange Mountaineering will follow the nation’s COVID-19 laws, restrictions and guidance in which we are operating.

2. Notification of symptoms or positive test

It is your responsibility to notify us immediately if you have symptoms, or test positive prior, during or immediately after a course or activity. It is also your responsibility to inform us of any local travel restrictions in your home location which might prevent you from attending.

3. Cancellations due to travel restrictions or need to self-isolate

Due to all legal restrictions being lifted we now refer back to our standard cancellation policy, point 9. above

4. Information before a course/activity

Prior to any course or activity Orange Mountaineering will be in touch about what you need to do before attending, with regards to COVID-19 procedures. This will include if there is anything you need to have with you. It is your responsibility to follow this guidance, some of which may be law.
